Itinerary CT-5: Mini Cooper Romantic break from GBP 299 per person

If Scottish chic is your desire, then why not hire a Mini Cooper and drive through the highlands along a winding road to an understated small hotel, - outwardly a converted farmhouse, inwardly a superb mix of old antiques and trendsetting style.

After collecting your car in either Edinburgh or Glasgow your route will take you to a hidden glen in the Trossachs, the Scottish lakeland and your wonderfully romantic retreat, surrounded by beautiful lochs, forests and dramatic mountain scenery.

Cooking is Tom's passion - his menu changes daily depending on what he can source directly and he's entirely self-taught ' look out for the shelves lined with cookbooks in the conservatory restaurant. The hotel's organic garden provides a regular supply of herbs, whilst the breakfast scrambled eggs come courtesy of the chickens in the yard - hence their deep orange colour. With magnificent views over Loch Voil and Loch Doine, this is the perfect place to soak up the peace and tranquillity of a sprawling highland estate, where red deer and grouse roam through dramatic walking country and red squirrels scurry across your path before darting back into the undergrowth.

What to see and do

The hotel is well located for great drives throughout the Trossachs, along Loch Tay and around Ben Lawers, Scotland's tenth highest mountain. Besides boasting many scenic roads, this is great walking country, with several lovely trails starting from the hotel itself. The area is also famous for its connections with Rob Roy MacGregor, the outlaw and subject of a recent Hollywood film (his grave is in Balquhidder churchyard).

Prices & Dates

This holiday can be arranged all year except for the period 18th December 2009 to 8th February 2010. 

The price is £299 per person for February, March, November & December, £345 per person for April & October, £355 per person for May to September, based on 2 people sharing a room for 2 nights on a bed & breakfast basis for holidays Sunday to Thursday. For weekends the price includes a wonderful 4 course gourmet dinner each night and is then £390, £437 & £447 per person for the respective months.

A 3 day hire of a Mini Cooper S is included. Why not hire a Mini Cooper convertible for an extra £15 per person?

This holiday also available from April to October with our beautiful Jaguar E-type, for £585 per person for a Sunday to Thursday on bed & breakfast and £675 per person over a weekend when Tom's wonderful dinner is included.
