Travel Story Competition

What's your story? Tell us and you could win a £200 McKinlay Kidd holiday voucher.

What memories did you bring back from a holiday in Ireland or Scotland, our McKinlay Kidd destinations?  Perhaps it's the story of someone you met, an unforgettable place you stayed, or something special that you saw.  If you can make ths story of your holiday come to life in around 300 words, you could win a £200 McKinlay Kidd holiday voucher.

How to enter

Entries should be emailed to info@mckinlaykidd.co.uk, quoting McKinlay Kidd 2013 Travel Story Competition. Please ensure you include your name and contact details. Please submit no more than one story of approximately 300 words.  You can also send a hard copy of your story (typed, not handwritten) to: McKinlay Kidd Travel Story Competition 2013, Suite 240 Baltic Chambers, 50 Wellington St, Glasgow G2 6HJ. Such entries cannot be returned.

Competition rules:

Prize: There is one prize of a £200 voucher to be used towards any McKinlay Kidd holiday in the period 1st February to 31st October 2014. The prize is not transferable and no cash equivalent will be offered.

Closing date: Entries close on 31st October 2013. Entry is open to anyone except McKinlay Kidd employees or suppliers used by McKinlay Kidd in the organisation of holidays in Scotland & Ireland. There is no entry fee.

Story copyright: The entrant must be the sole author and owner of the copyright of any story entered. It is the legal responsibility of the entrant, and not McKinlay Kidd, to ensure that they comply with these ownership and copyright requirements, and own the rights to reproduction of the work. Entries that do not fulfil these criteria will be deemed ineligible and disqualified. Where this is discovered after the prize has been awarded, the prize must be returned or refunded by the entrant. Entrants agree to fully indemnify McKinlay Kidd in respect of all royalties, fees and any other monies owing to any person by reason of the entrant breaching any of the foregoing. In entering this competition the entrant grants permission to McKinlay Kidd to reproduce the story in future marketing and promotional materials, including brochures, website and McKinlay Kidd’s facebook page. The copyright will, at all times, be respected by McKinlay Kidd and retained by the writer. Where a story is reproduced by McKinlay Kidd, the author will be credited, but no fee will be paid.

Judging: The winner will be the story which best describes Scotland or Ireland differently in the opinion of the judges. Their decision is final on all matters relating to the competition, and we are unable to enter into any correspondence regarding the judging or organisation of the competition. The judging will take place during November 2013.

Winner: The winner will be informed by the end of November 2013 and entrants can request details of the winner by contacting McKinlay Kidd in December.  The winner agrees to their success being publicised by McKinlay Kidd.

Quality of entries: If the quality of entries falls below the required standard, the organisers reserve the right not to award a prize.
